Japan Round Two

We decided to go to Ao Nang which was a mistake.  Not a huge mistake but very quiet and dull after Ko Phi Phi Don.  The beaches aren't as pretty, it is small and there are few people our age (mostly families).  We did stay in an amazing hotel (we splurged and paid $25).  we were excited about having air conditioning, but then there was a huge electrical storm and mad rain and all the electricity in the city went out and that was the end of the air conditioning.  The staff passed out candles and we sat in our room playing cards until the power came back on.  After that we decided that we had had enough of Ao Nang, so we headed back to Ko Phi Phi.  Always a good time.

Well I should have known it was coming- I did decide to go on vacation during rainy season.  We were sitting at the beach yesterday when the torential rainpour started.  I thought it would end soon, but it keeps coming down.  It lets up occassionally so we can do other things (like sit on the beach watching fire shows which are amazing).  We are going to switch islands (going to Ao Nang) and see if that helps the weather (ha ha ha yeah right).  I could seriously stay here for a month though and still be sad when I had to leave.  I am in love with Thailand!

Erin and I made it to Thailand are having a great time!  We stayed in Phuket last night and are in Ko Phi Phi toady (which is where "The Beach" was filmed).  Phuket city was dirty and not exciting, although I am having some clothes made there for cheaper than I could buy them at Old Navy.  We rode on elephants and saw a monkey show but I just felt bad for the animals and wish I hadn't gone.  Ko Phi Phi is amazing though!  We are staying in a little bungalow 20 feet from the water and it is only $12 for both of us.  There are tons of people here, great food and the water is soooooooooo beautiful.  I will write more when I get back to Japan but I am already loving this trip and it has only been 24 hours.
